Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of dyslexia tutoring compared to other forms of tutoring?

Younger student may struggle to learn to read and write using phonics as they cannot hear or process the written sounds. Dyslexia affects the way people process information through sight and sound. It affects special nerve cells called M cells. Dyslexia tuition uses a range of methods which access to different parts of the brain and build up connections between different neurones.

Tuition can focus on key areas such as phonic and study skills. Student will be set tasks to complete over the week which will really make the difference. Dyslexia tuition teaches in a multisensory way as playdough is fabulous for forming electricity circuits and we use felt models of cells.

Why should we practise at home – what is the point of you?

Students with dyslexia have to practise their brain muscles in a different way. It is like learning to ride a bicycle, it is needs lots of practise and time. There will be days when they fall off the bike but it has been shown in many studies for over a 100 years that student with dyslexia can achieve anything.
